It is a ‘paved shoulder improvement’ on Speedway from Painted Hills Road west to Camino de Oeste (1.7 miles). It is set to begin in the spring 2019 and is described on the County website as follows:
• Speedway Boulevard: Painted Hills Road to Camino de Oeste
• Project Scope Cost: $2,188,746
• Project Status: Initial Project Assessment under review by ADOT
• Completion Date: Fall 2019
• Engineer/Contractor: WSP

This project will add shoulders to both sides of Speedway Boulevard from Painted Hills Road to Camino de Oeste for the duration of approximately 1.6 miles. It will also mill and replace existing roadways pavement along the 1.6 mile section.

The County is requesting comments, concerns and feedback by 8/18/18 to PCDOT c/o Daniel Bunting, Harris Environmental Group, Inc., 650 N. 6th Ave., Tucson, AZ 85701, by phone @ 628-7648 ext. 135 or by email: dbunting@heg-inc.com.

The GPANA Board met with a Pima County Project Engineer in 2017 who compared it to the roadwork Pima County completed on Anklam Road several years ago.
